Creativity and Innovation
Creativity played and is playing a big role in this project through class in History and English. I have been applying new ideas to spark new ones. For example, in class and out of class we have been searching about the Holocaust and I have been being refreshed with things I already know, but I have been finding out new things everyday to spark my mind in creativity and discussions we take part in class. Next, I have done a lot of original work to help me express my ideas throughout this assignment. On the website we are making about the Holocaust, we make blogs every week based on our everyday opinions. This helps us examine the topic differently. Although we looked at many examples about World War II and the Holocaust to help us make our website the best it can be, we never looked at models or simulations to stimulate our opinions and thoughts. Last but not least, over time, when in class we were reading the book Night, I always put myself in the perspective of that character at that moment. It helped me tremendously when I achieved my objective on knowing the topic.
Research and Information Fluency
I have used research a lot to guide me through my project. It has played a huge role. A time in class, we had optional homework to make a calendar and a checklist of all the things we wanted to get done, and do for the future. Throughout this whole entire project the grade and I have researched, read, examined many texts, photos, websites, and examples from History. All this research, and examples we found, helped everyone summarize their ideas greatly. Also, digital tools have helped us, for everyday we use the app called Weebly on our Ipads so at anytime we can work on our projects to do the best we can do. Finally, we didn't really look at much data over the course of the unit. The only ratios or percentages we examined were the percentage of Jews that have been killed during the Holocaust.
Communication and Collaboration
There are many communication skills involved in my learning that helped me on may tremendously. Everyday my friends and I are communicating about the project. For example, throughout the week people encourage everyone's opinions and ideas. When we have discussions in class, the room is always heated with debates firing. I love when the class has discussions because you can witness and see everybodys opinions and thoughts on the idea being discussed. We do take part in discussions in person, but on our websites we are creating, your fellow classmates can comment on your blogs. There are two ways to discuss through social media and in person. During the project and unit, we haven't really engaged with any cultural people to see what there thoughts were, connecting to the unit.
Critical Thinking, Problem solving, and Decision Making
Critical thinking showed up a lot in the activities we did. Our class together did define many authentic problems relating to the topic we were examining. For example, one question we asked was, "What is the Holocaust?". There were many other questions more in depth into the topic. One we found the big question, we digged down with research and lots of thinking to find out the solution to the answer and problem. Further, activities played a big role in our learning. We did many activities everyday mostly, to help us learn better. One day, to help learn about the Great Depression, the class was split up into groups where some of us had to look at photos, videos or articles. Then, in a big discussion took part relating each others feelings. Again, we didn't really analyze any data throughout the website, for we only read and learned things throughout articles. The class looked at many different perspectives while learning. For instance, when learning about the Holocaust we looked at Hitler's perspective towards it. We then individually looked at the Jewish people's thoughts and perspective towards it, and the soldiers. We examined everyone's thoughts. That helped a lot for us to understand the topic better.
Digital Citizenship
I have followed a lot of digital citizenship throughout the website. Our class does use safe legal technology to do our learning. The use of safe, real websites are provided. In school, our Ipads are blocked from the illegal websites, anyway. Everyone in the grade who works together, shares and helps one another. We are never negative about the technology we use and the way we learn with it. During class, we all respect and ask questions to make sure we keep up to date with our technology sources and collaboration. Overall, we haven’t really practiced any lifelong learning practices. But, we will obviously use this great website creator and the resources that make learning better. Last but not least, my grade and I are great sports when it comes to sharing the websites and resources. For example, we always give feedback on what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong. This constructive feedback helps each others websites to be more neat and worthy.
Technology Operations and Concepts
Technology was the main lead role in this project. If it wasn't for technology, this project and website wouldn't be possible; we used many technology systems. There is a website named Weebly, where you can make your own IDU and website. This is our main system, that directs us throughout the whole project. It is our project. The website is our final piece of work. There are many troubleshooting situations that we accomplished. We found out that it's very hard to work on the website on an Ipad, for it's laggy. Also, you can't put blogs on your Ipad. A solution made was that we found a second weebly app named Weebly Classic. That allows you to do blogs on your Ipad. Now, time wasn’t wasted in class. Already, I have had knowledge on technology and how it works, but this website opened a whole new interesting level of technology. I was able to experience more positive tech options such as, various photo options, interesting text boxes, different abilities I have never been opened to before. The website opened a new window for me in technology.
